Diagnostic X-Rays
Diagnostic x-rays provide valuable insights for both clinician and patient. They can highlight bone loss, which can impact overall oral health. With advanced digital technology, I can utilize x-rays to guide me through your oral health assessment. The beauty and simplicity of digital x-rays are they are minimally invasive, especially when compared to other medical assessments. Another bonus is that x-rays offer an instant snapshot into your mouth.
Oral Health Assessment
X-rays are only one aspect of your oral health assessment. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, I am trained in evaluating your current gum health, your homecare habits and how to improve those habits. I will also take the time to review and update your medical history as that ties into one's oral health.
Guided Biofilm Therapy
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) utilizes a simple, time efficient, minimally invasive form of cleaning plaque (bio-film) from your teeth, gums and soft tissue. It is more gentle than traditional ultrasonics and hand scaling. It is ideal for natural teeth, orthodontics (braces), implants, etc. *It utilizes warmwater which is a big relief to those with cold sensitivities. See below for more information.
Comprehensive Referrals
In matters of health, incorporating multiple disciplines is ideal, hence implementing a referral system. Not everyone needs to be referred but for those that do, I will refer to dentists, periodontists, orthodontists, etc. We work together as a team.

As mentioned above, I am absolutely thrilled to be offering Guided Biofilm Therapy to all our patients. It is truly a game changer and will provide the least invasive method of removing biofilm / plaque. In a nutshell, biofilm or plaque is a collection of bacteria, saliva and food debris.

Hello and welcome to my Independent Dental Hygiene Studio. Let me introduce myself. My name is Alona Lomibao and I am a proud graduate of the Dalhousie Dental Hygiene Program, Class of 2000. With 23 years of clinical experience, I am excited to start the next chapter in my career. I look forward to serving my home community of Fall River and surrounding areas.

Why Choose an Independent Dental Hygienist?
The quality of service and longer appointment times! Independents typically spend 90 minutes for routine adult cleaning appointments. New patient appointments are a little longer due to x-rays, etc. This extended time allows the hygienist to assess your gum health and work with you to improve overall oral health.
Will my insurance cover costs of treatment?
Yes, Viva Smile Studio accepting Insurance Providers.
What Payment Methods Do You Accept?
Cash, Credit, Debit, and Interact E-Transfer are accepted forms of payment.
Do I still need to see a dentist?
Ideally yes, patients should have a dental examination completed within the last 12-24 months. Alona works closely with neighboring dentists so that together, we can ensure optimal care.
Do you offer bleaching?
Not at this time but Alona is able to recommend reputable over-the-counter products. *It's always best to have your teeth assessed and cleaned prior to any bleaching method.
